I am a true Albertan through and through. I love the outdoors, staying active, and exploring creative ideas. I am a carpenter by day and bartend by night working weekends to socialize with our interesting, colorful clients and staff. As well, making myself available to be of service to my clients at Calm Water Wellness Studio facilitating group healing circles and one on one sessions. I am an uncle to 4 super fun nieces and nephews and I truly believe in living with balance and peace. I became a trained Shamanic practitioner in 2016 and have been luck to have found my passion.
Hi, I’m Eric
Eric’s journey
Born and raised on a third-generation dairy farm in rural Alberta, Eric grew up surrounded by family, neighbors, and wide open spaces. His grandfather had a wood shop and Eric spent countless hours learning how to build and work with natural materials, while listening to his grandfathers’ colorful life stories. Eric loved having the ability to imagine something beautiful and create it from a single piece of wood.
Growing up Eric, like many of us, didn’t always feel like he fit in. He often wondered who he really was deep down but continued to go with the flow and shaped himself to other’s expectations. An avid athlete, and incredibly social, he could be described as a regular guy, but he always felt uncomfortable in his own skin, despite others thinking he was fun to be with. He had a lot of big questions.
In his early 20's, Eric travelled extensively, embracing new cultures and ways of living that were different from his own. Exposed to architecture and design while travelling, he returned home to pursue a career in carpentry and architectural design. While completing his post secondary education, Eric began exploring deeper questions about life and the nature of reality - delving into quantum physics and the teachings of Wayne Dyer, Tony Robbins and Joe Dispenza, to name a few. During a project, a client introduced him to the concepts of energy medicine and spiritual healing. Ever curious, Eric signed up for an introductory shamanic healing class which led to 3.5 years of intensive training.
As he immersed himself in the teachings, Eric reflected on his life and the undesirable behaviors and emotional patterns that had affected his relationships with others and himself. He became more conscious of the deep-rooted shame he felt when his anxiety and emotions got the best of him. It was during his study of shamanism, that Eric was finally able to acknowledge years of negative self-recriminations that led to him waking up to himself and his trauma based behaviors. This was a pivotal moment, as he began to realize how lost he was inside. Eric began recognizing the quality of his relationships, addictions, social behaviors, and emotional maturity.
As he began to take back control of his thoughts and emotional reactions, the negative cycles were interrupted and Eric found himself “switched back on” feeling centered, calm and in control for the first time. He discovered that knowing, loving and respecting yourself is the basis of existence. As a result, Eric’s experiences have become positive and fulfilling, relationships deeper and opportunities attainable , leading to a life of contentment and ease.
With over 8 years of practice, Eric has helped 100’s of clients address a wide range of emotional, mental and physical issues through his healing work. The experience of his own healing journey, has informed his practice in new ways as Eric continues to deepen his insights, actively integrating with the ancient healing practices taught.
Eric’s secret to living his best life is a balance of carpentry to fuel his creativity; spending time with friends and community, honing his craft of mixology; and serving others through his shamanic healing practice.
